A program for education and training of applied biotechnology skills

ALONG-STANDING, continuing concern expressed by executives in science-based industries relates to the extensive amount of training that industry must give to graduates entering the workforce before they become knowledgeable contributors to the enterprise. Academia, on the other hand, generally disdains industrial research-and-development and manufacturing skills in favor of academic research and teaching. Others, knowledgeable or experienced in both endeavors, can point out the mutual benefits the accrue from closer accommodation of both industrial and academic needs.
