摘要

To explore the full yield from high potential crop like maize, efficient utilization of all the farming inputs is essential. Modern crop production technologies emphasize the need for both nutrient and weed management practices. This study was conducted during kharif 1998 and summer 1999 at Annamalai University Experimental Farm, Annamalainagar. The soil was clayey loam in texture with low in available N, medium in available P and high in available K. The maize hybrid 'Cargill' was chosen. The experiments were laid out in split plot design and replicated thrice. The experiment consisted of three main plot treatments viz., 25 percent less than the recommended level of major nutrients, recommended level of major nutrients, 25 percent more than the recommended level of major nutrients and eight sub-plot treatments of weed competition period (Table 1).
