Effect of NPK on growth and yield of ginger

Experiments were conducted to study the effect of NPK dosages on growth and yield of ginger. The frequency of sprouting in ginger rhizome was greater in high and low dose treatments. The number of sprouts per rhizome was greater in high and low dose treatments. The number of sprouts per rhizome varied from one to a maximum of five. The height of the sprouts increased rapidly after 2 months of sowing. The yield was normally lower in the control plots (125-175 q/ha). How, ever, a maximum yield of 187.5 q/ha was recorded in low dose treatment. The yield and number of sprouts were closely correlated.
