摘要

The main criteria most engineers use in materials selection for a heat treat component is yield strength and creep strength at the operating temperature. However, almost equally important are the attributes of coefficient of thermal expansion,thermal conductivity, and heat capacity. In this article, an effort has been made to objectively rank materials in terms of coefficient of thermal expansion, thermal conductivity, strength, and heat capacity for alloy selection in the design of heat treat components. The effect of each of these materials properties on apparatus performance also is explained.
