Hypertension is defined as the levels of blood pressure above generally excepted normal, for example 140/90 at the age of 20 years, 160/95 at the age of 50 years hypertension is present in all population worldwide. It has been estimated that hypertension accounts for about 6% of death worldwide. Hypertension doubles the risk of cardiovascular disease including coronary heart disease (CHD), congestive heart failure (CHF), ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke, renal failure and peripheralarterial disease.
