The interests of grape growers in North India with remarkable success in commercial viticulture in South got dampened with the adverse effect of pre-monsoon showers coinciding with ripening of Thompson Seedless or its better clone Pusa Seedless in the third week of June (Pandey, 7). Pusa Seedless flourishes well under North Indian conditions and gives best quality grapes (Yadav and Pandey, 12) and acceptable quality raisins (Amba Dan et al., 1). Beauty Seedless and Perlette are early-maturing cultivars but they lack essential quality characters for making raisins in spite of a good improvement brought about with various treatments (Nath et al., 5; Pandey and Pandey, 8). Therefore, a study was undertaken to find out effect of different bud-breakingchemicals on maturity in Pusa Seedless grape.
