Evaluation of canine cardiac diseases by pulse oximetry and blood pressure measurement

Total 74 dogs showing signs suggestive of cardiac diseases were subjected to blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) and blood pressure measurement. The overall mean SpO2 of cardiac disease group (89.39±0.72) was found to be significantly lower as compared tocontrol (94.74±0.95). The systolic and diastolic arterial pressure for heart worm and cardiomyopathy were significantly higher as compared to control. So, pulse oximeters are of critical importance in emergency medicine.
