Nutrients are essential for the productivity and quality of different fruit crops. The perennial fruit crops are quite different from other seasonal crops in their nutritional requirements due to their size, density, rate of root growth and phenomenonof the fruit bud differentiation in previous seasons and its relationship with yield in the following year. Determination of nutritional needs of fruit trees must be made prior to the renewed growth or determination of the potential yield. However, reliable information is needed to decide, how much manures and fertilizers should be applied to the fruit trees for an economic response (Bhargava and Singh, 2). Though karonda (Carissa carandas L.) is an important minor fruit crop yet its production have not been satisfactory due to some constraints in its cultivation. One of the most important factor which limits the production is nutrition. Unless it is maintained at an optimum level, higher yield and better fruit quality can not be obtained. The present investigation is to study the effect of deficiency of potassium on the vegetative growth of karonda seedlings in sand culture, uptake and consequently the leaf status of other elements.
