Maximization of crop yields requires the combination of an optimum genotype with an optimum environment. The productivity of a crop in a particular area depends on the overall climate Buttery and Buzzel, 1. Climate is the most important factor in vegetable production. Of the various climatic factors, temperature is probably the most important. Capsicum Cap/cum annuum L. is a warm season crop.This crop is chilling sensitive and cannot tolerate extended periods of temperature below 10°C. Mean growing temperature of the crop is between 18 to 30°C. It is an important off-season vegetable crop in Uttaranchal hills of North West Himalayas. Owing to its non-availability in plains during this time, it can fetch better remuneration to the farmers of the hills. Inclement weather is common feature of this agro-climatic zone. Even the middle hills of Shivalik Himalayas are experiencing hail storms mainly in the month of April and May. In these areas, greenhouse technology plays an important role in producing high value crops such as capsicums, tomatoes and cucumbers. Greenhouse structures glasshouse and poly house are the most suitable for hills because the plants raised under them show high productivity and more yield.
