Evaluation of Valencia strains of sweet orange under north Indian conditions

During recent years, a major demand for sweet orange cultivars that are suitable for export and processing and for an alternative support to Kinnow mandarin has emerged in Punjab. Previously, Mosambi and Blood Red were the most popular varieties thatwere being grown but due to their decline after few years of fruiting, a demand has emerged for some other suitable varieties (Bajwa et al., 2). In order to have some specific cultivar(s) many varieties were introduced at Regional Research Station, Abohar, which include various strains of Valencia viz., Olinda Valencia, Frost Valencia, Cutter Valencia, Campbell Valencia and Valencia Late.
