A total of 104 sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) genotypes including both grain and fodder sorghum were evaluated during kharif 2004, 2005 and 2006 for resistance to anthracnose (caused by Colletotrichum graminicola) and zonate leaf spot (caused by Gloeocercospora sorghi) under artificial inoculation conditions in Uttarakhand, India. None of the stocks were free from any of the diseases. Eighty-four and 95 genotypes showed varying degrees of resistance to anthracnose and zonate leaf spot, respectively. In grain sorghum, 15 genotypes were resistant to anthracnose, whereas 23 genotypes were resistant to zonate leaf spot. Ten genotypes of grain sorghum and 4 genotypes of forage sorghum showed combined resistance to both diseases.
