Buying British never felt so good: They're not cheap, but owning a Morgan is an experience you'll never forget

This column has been on the back burner for months, but now the time is right. That's because if, like me, you've been wondering what's happened to the British car industry, right now you'll find it near Malvern, with a Morgan sign above the door. For the time being, at least. If you want a used Morgan, however, the chances are that you'll find it inside a dehumidified garage in pretty much as-new condition. Yes, Morgans have always been utterly intriguing as used buys. That's because they don't depreciate massively and hardly seem to acquire anything in the way of mileage, so the membership fee to join the worshipful company of Morganeers is a reassuringly stiff ￡17,000. For that, you'll find yourself in a world of 1980s 4/4s and 1990s Plus 4s, and incredibly some of those have readings of 50,000 miles on their steam-powered odometers.
