High-tech platform for all-new Q7: Lightweight composite MLB-evo architecture to have its debut on Audi's second-gen seven-seat SUV

This is the all-new Audi Q7, undergoing final testing before an expected launch in the second half of next year. The 07 is the first Audi that will use the Volkswagen Group's all-new MLB-evo architecture, which promises to be one of the most sophisticated structures ever put into series production. Although there's no official word from Audi, the new platform is expected to shave around 340kg off the weight of today's Q7, bringing the entry-level models down to 2000kg. This platform still uses Audi's near-unique, natively front-drive layout of a longitudinally mounted engine driving an in-line transmission.
