摘要

It is an alloy wheel for a motorcycle having "Ring Riser" and flow-offs. The alloy is A356.2, (refer Table-1) and yield is about 50%. For better understanding, refer to Fig. 1. The gross weight is 9.1 kg, after cutting the riser; net weight is 4.6 kg, pouring was directly through the central sprue. Metal temperature was 690 to 700℃ and mould temperature was between 300 to 400℃. Metal was melted in a gas-fired crucible type tilting furnace, further treated and dispensed through an electric resistance type holding furnace. Rotary Nitrogen degasser was used for degassing, and conventional powder fluxes along with metallic grain refiner and modifier were used for metal treatment. The production target for foundry was 400 sets per day. But due to the problem stated below, they were not able to produce a single wheel and the plant was shut for over 6 months.
