摘要

In rare earth, chalcogenide compound Smx and Ybx (x = S. Se and Te) are semiconductor to metal transition usually depending upon the pressure. It is due to the promotion of 4f electron into the 5d-6s conduction band. They may be interpreted as transitions from 4f~6-4f~5 5d. The activation energy and wavelength of a conduction electron is found to be pressure dependent.
