Studies on multiplication of Bambusa vulgaris cv. Wamin (buddha bamboo) through juvenile branch cuttings.

A propagation study was conducted on Bambusa vulgaris cv. wamin using juvenile shoot cuttings in glasshouse. The basal ends of the cuttings were dipped in test solutions (500 ppm IBA, 500 ppm NAA, 500 ppm boric acid and control (water)) and kept for 24 h. Results showed that maximum rooting of 18% was observed in the untreated cuttings (control) followed by 15% in cuttings treated with 500 ppm IBA, 12% with 500 ppm NAA and 10% with 500 ppm boric acid. However, the maximum number of roots (3) and root length (15 cm) were observed in those treated with IBA followed untreated cuttings.
