Victorian phylloxera rezoning project update

As part of the Victorian Government's Future Farming Strategy, $3 million over four years, starting in 2009-10, was provided for a targeted program to improve viticulture biosecurity and market access for Victoria's grapegrowing regions.Part of this funding was used to complete the Bendigo/Heathcote phylloxera rezoning project. All vineyards within the boundaries of the Bendigo/ Heathcote geographic indication were surveyed for the presence of phylloxera. This included 333 vineyards comprising 2760 hectares of vines.
