Anyone in Britain can legally buy a monkey such as these marmosets listed on a classified ads website- no papers, inspection of premises or licences are required.Keeping primates as pets is banned in many EU member states, but not in the UK and animal-welfare charities want this to change. They say it has become easier to own a monkey since the British government removed thelicensing requirements for several smaller primate species in 2007, and that many animals suffer as a result of inadequate care.
