摘要

Sesamum (Sesamum indicum L.), also referred as "Queen of Oilseeds", is attacked by about 65 species of insect pests in different stages of plant growth. Amongst all, leaf webber and capsule borer, Antigastra catalaunalis Duponchel (Lepidoptera : Pyraustidae) and fly, AsphondyUa sesami Felt. (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) are considered to be the most destructive pests, throughout India. Cheema and Singh (1987) reported 53 per cent yield loss due to leaf webber and capsule borer, while 31.3 per cent lossesoccurs due to gall fly damage (Sengupta et al., 2002). Shamshad (2010) revealed that fenvalerate 20 EC at 0.01% was found as the most significant chemical insecticide followed by botanical insecticides. It is important to search for the new molecules ofinsecticides as there are problems of development of resistance to the frequently used pesticides. Hence, the present study has been carried out to evaluate efficacy of different insecticides against A. catalaunalis and A. sesami.
