Low-cost straw-treatment technology for improving roughage quality

摘要

Crop residues, straws, strovers and husks are deficient in protein, minerals and vitamins. Due to ligniftcations these crop residues being less palatable, less digestible and low in nutritive values, are considered as sub-maintenance type of feed materials to ruminant animal. A technology known as urea ammonia of straw has been perfected. Nation wide state agencies connected with development of livestock sector have decided to popularize it among rural masses. Efforts have been made in the article toexplain the technoeconomics of this technology for popularizing it.
