Farmer's Participation in agriculture technology management agency

India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, but to match the developed nations and to be counted in their league, it still has lot of work to do. Agriculture and agriculture-based industries, which were one of the main occupation-generating resources in India now shares only 30% of the economy. To improve the conditions of farmers and to understand their dynamics and needs, Government launched a project for the people, of the people and to an extent by the people. It is called Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), and has been introduced as an autonomous organization under the umbrella of National Agriculture Technology Project (NATP), to incorporate research and extension along with the district stakeholders to assess theneeds of farmers and support their interest. The NATP is a dynamic instrument for introducing the major changes in the agriculture research and extension systems of the country. It was introduced keeping in mind the past initiatives taken and to make them specific to the needs of the people, location and environment.
