IN early seventies, an estimated 920 million people in the developing world were chronically undernourished, with insufficient food but at the beginning of nineties, despite continuing population growth, the figure had been reduced to 840 million about 20% of the total population of the developing world. Out of these, a major part lives in developing and poor countries in Asian and Africa continents. During the World Food Summit of 2002, the world leaders vowed to reduce this number to half by 2015.
