摘要

The study investigated the effect of dry matter intake in summer and rainy seasons on the disposition of triclabendazole in plasma of goats following intraruminal administration. The drug appeared to be slowly eliminated from the body as detectable plasma levels of both the metabolites could be observed even at 168 h of drug administration. Analysis of pharmacokinetic parameters revealed increased bioavailability of triclabendazole metabolites in goats grazed in summer. The significantly (P<0.05) higher area under the concentration-time curve and elimination half-life of triclabendazole sulphoxide in goats grazed on dry grasses during summer compared to green grasses during rainy season, reflected high anthelmintic uptake in goats grazing predominantly on dry grasses/shrubs. Parasites are exposed to the lethal toxic level of the anthelmintic active metabolite for a longer duration following intraruminal administration of the drug in goats grazed on dry grasses/shrubs during summer season.
