Oxytocin is a neuropeptide which is primarily released by the pituitary gland. Oxytocin causesmuscles or tne uterus or dairy animals to contract in a rhythmic way in order to induce labour. It is also used to cause evacuation of the leftover placental mass and other undesirable internal material in the uterus after parturition.
