GRASIM/Q1 Net Jumps 72 Percent

Grasim Industries, the Aditya Birla group has reported a 72 percent rise in net profit to Rs. 102.2 crore during the first quarter of the current financial year as against Rs.59.4 crore in the same period last year. Net sales, however, declined to Rs. 1,184.2 crore from Rs. 1,195.9 crore in the previous year.Driven by higher realizations in the cement business, Grasim's gross profit during he first quarter shot up from Rs. 127.1 crore to Rs. 200.2 crore while profit before interest depreciation and tax rose from Rs. 188.4 crore to Rs. 247.7 crore during the same period.
