The high incidence of viruses, powdery mildew and sudden increase in temperature, during April-May drastically affect seed production of summer squash in northern plains which results into low yield and make the seed production un-viable. The growingof summer squash seed crop under insect-proof net house can overcome all these problems by protecting its crop from viruses and unfavourable climatic conditions. The insect-proof net house is also useful for advancing the transplanting of seeding crop during early summer season and can provide more growing period for flowering, fruit setting and fruit development. The hybrid seed production of summer squash, Pusa Alankar, is possible in insect-proof net house successfully under Delhi condition.
