The cement industry seems to constantly stay in the news, not only because of its vital position in the economy as whole, but also on account of the disinformation surrounding it. In this context it becomes pertinent to take stock of the industry's performance and gauge where it is headed. "The cement industry is a very public industry, while this helps in maintaining transparency, the flip side is that there can be too much of information, much of which is untrue. Recently there was a story in a prominent newspaper, predicting exceptional performance for the industry in the months of July to September which ironically is part of the monsoon season, when demand is slack." says, B.L.
