摘要

Basic classification of macro and micro minerals is more related to their quantitative requirement of animals. However, their reference as cations and anions is more valid functionally for their anatomical, physiological, nutritional and various otherroles in the animal system. There is marked difference in the partial dependence of their homeostasis mechanisms in the system. Either cation or anion source compound, its bioavailability and different physiological factors of the animals governing theabsorption of the ion across the intestinal wall is more important to substantiate particular element requirement to the animal. Further, there is some interrelationship among different cations and anions owing to net electrical charge of the ion. Reviewalso discussed advantageous and disadvantageous of formulation of complete or regional specific mineral mixture in the perspective of cost and resource recycling.
