Technology diffusion and up-scaling in rainfed agro ecosystem: policy and institutional approaches.

摘要

This study was conducted to analyse the policy and institutional issues in relation to technology diffusion and up scaling in rainfed agroecosystems. Data were gathered from eight Operational Research Projects in the All India Coordinated Research Project for Dryland Agriculture located in different states, viz., Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra. It was found that the reasons for non-adoption of NRM technologies are lack of proper institutional and policy support and hence the solution does not lie in mere research. Further, it was also observed that technology transfer in rainfed agroecosystem is not merely communicating the research outputs to farmers, but a function of creating favourable policy and institutional environment to facilitate higher adoption and wider diffusion.
