Impact of Mechanization in Production of Groundnut Crop in Anantapur region

The impact of mechanization on groundnut production in Anantapur region was studied by introducing all available machinery for groundnut cropping system i.e., groundnut planter, power tiller sprayer, weeding by tractor, Asha guntaka and mechanical thresher as compared to the traditional farmer's practice of using bullock drawn implements. Experiments were conducted at ARS, Anantapur and activity wise expenditure was derived in both the systems. The results indicate that the cost of cultivation can bereduced by Rs. 2500/- per hectare by use of improved implements as also precise and timely operations can be performed with maximum field capacity.
