Impact of Warana dairy farming pattern on iocio-economic status of dairy farmers

The study was conducted on 20 randomly selected villages of Panhalataluka in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra state with 400 dairy farmers, to assess the impact of ShriWarana Dairy Co-operative Milk Producers Processing Federation Ltd pattern on socioeconomic profile, knowledge and adoption of dairy management practices. The data collection was done by the use of structured interview schedule and through personal interview. Highly significant differences were observed in herd size, annual income, risk orientation, social participation, source of information, ioiowledge and adoption of dairy farmers as impact of Warana dairy farming pattern after becoming the member except land holding. Almost all the independent and dependent variables of the socio-economic status of the dairy farmers have shown the highly significant impact after becoming the members may lead to the concrete conclusion that the Warana co-operative movement and mode is responsible for bringing-up the sea change in the livelihood ofthese farmers.
