Organic farming has arrived.

There are 31thin118 organic farms in Italy, with a combined area of 564thin913 hectares, representing 3.8% of farming land in the country. Of the organic farms, 20thin777 (covering an area of 401thin333 hectares) are located in southern Italy or onthe Italian islands, and 46.9% of organic crops are used for the feeding of livestock. Details of the EU regulations for the space required per housed or grazed heifer, dairy cow, calf, bull, ewe, goat and horse at organically managed farms are presentedin a table.
