IEI CELEBRATES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY Theme: CO2: Kick the Habit-Towards a Low Carbon Economy

The Chief Guest, Dr V P Dimri, Director, National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad, while speaking on the theme, said that major impact of global warming would be the rise sea levels which in turn would inundate the coastal areas. The Guest-of-Honour, Dr S Wagabhushana Rao, Vice President of IEI, expressed his deep concern on emission of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and blamed human activities for this. Dr K S Jawahar Reddy, Managing Director, Hyderabad Urban Development Authority, in his keynote address said that uncontrolled growth of human population and uncontrolled desires of ever growing population have created limitless problems. The function was presided over by Shri. D Hanumanthachary, Chairman of the Centre. Prof G C M Reddy, Honorary Secretary of the Centre, proposed the vote of thanks.
