Production sites for pork that are in Asian river basins connected to the South China Sea become the target of a new multinational programme against environmental pollution by livestock units. Three epicenters of Asian pork are taking part in a multinational campaign aimed at a cutback in the polluting effects of intensive livestock production, says a new policy briefing document from United Nations agency FAO. The governments of China, Thailand and Vietnam have joined an East Asia project that willaddress environmental threats "by developing policies to balance the location of livestock operations with land resources and to encourage the use of manure and other nutrients by crop farmers".
