LONDON (ICIS)--US agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P) downgraded late on Monday the UK’s credit rating from the top notch AAA to AA after the 23 June referendum vote to leave the EU and placed the country’s debt obligations on a negative outlook due to the uncertainty after the “seminal” referendum. S&P said the uncertainty surrounding the negotiations to exit the EU following the vote might hurt foreign direct investment (FDI) in the UK, which since the country joined the bloc in 1973 was strengthened.
