Allocating sole responsibility to the automotive industry to reduce CO{sub}2 emissions is no longer justifiable in view of the changing market conditions. Shared responsibility, referred to as the 'Integrated Approach', represents the more cost-effective way of achieving a sustainable reduction in CO{sub}2 emissions in the automotive sector.
