Bio-control Efficacy of Entomopathogenic Nematodes against Plutella xylostella (L.) on Cabbage

摘要

Diamond back moth, Plutella xylostella (L.) is the most important pest which causes direct yield loss and economic damage on crucifers and vegetable crops. Management of this pest is becoming a problem because it develops multiple resistance to insecticides with short life cycle. Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPN) have been identified as promising biological control agent against this pest. Evening application and incorporation of antidesiccants and UV protectants in aqueous nematode suspension offer possibilities for increasing bio-control efficacy against foliar insects. Hence, the efficacy of EPN viz., Heterorhabditis indica and Steinernema glaseri was evaluated on cabbage under pot culture and microplot conditions.
