Cradle Mountain is an essential component of any visit to Tasmania for those interested in the flora or natural environment. Cradle is always a requested part of the itinerary of both amateur and professional botanists. All who visit the Cradle area owe a great debt to one man. Gustav Weindorfer, an Austrian by birth, devoted the latter part of his life to the permanent reservation of Cradle Mountain and its surrounds. He was the first to set up the facilities and the tracks to allow people to appreciate and enjoy its beauty and wonder.
