The chaos experienced in global phosphate markets in 2008 and 2009 continues to have reverberations in 2010, with prices jumping sharply during since December 2009. With sellers and distributors burnt holding high priced inventory in 2009, and lower demand for product from failing commodity prices throughout several planting periods (particularly in the US), global inventory levels of DAP/MAP were drastically reduced across the global pipeline by the end of 2009.
