While farming operations always seek to gain maximum benefits from their fertiliser program, the pressure is really on the fertiliser budget this year after the dire financial consequences of the 2006 season. Fertilisers are still one of the largest inputs into the cropping budget, and a lot of those dollars are often committed early in the season, so the fertiliser budget is always one of the first items to be scrutinised when belt-tightening is a priority.
