Buffalo fly distribution is seasonal and expanding in Australia. Since being introduced, they have spread across the north of Australia and are heading further south, particularly down the east coast. This spread is thought to be due to the flies finding more areas further south where small populations could survive the winters. The flies may also be slowly adapting to cooler conditions further south. With the presently changing climate, there is an opportunity they may spread faster and further.
