It's a good time to start thinking about managing your dung beetles. The end of the drought is as important a time for managing active beetle populations as it is for managing stock and pasture. The numbers of adult beetles and larvae fall during a prolonged drought. Some die after hatching because they can not find enough nutrition. Others die as a direct result of our actions. Predators such as crows, cane toads and foxes further reduce populations. More importantly, our management has a huge affect on surviving and future populations.
