SRS woolgrowers are successfully addressing the increasing awareness of consumers to environmental and animal welfare issues through the supply of clean, green, ethically-produced NewMerino~R branded wool to major brands such as adventure wear manufacturer Patagonia. Working to create strong relationships that will stand the test of time is important to build consumer confidence but also to foster woolgrower support for the system and work towards increasing supply, says NewMerino~R founder and chiefexecutive Peter Vandeleur. "Since the creation of NewMerino~R six years ago and particularly over the last three years, we have been working to building relationships with numerous major clothing brands in the United States and Europe to supply certified, high quality wool. To achieve these strong, ongoing relationships we are meeting the needs of the consumers by supplying fibre that adheres to their demand for traceability back to the original source of supply."
