摘要

EIL Druce is often told he's a mug for farming, because his fortune lies in working with native timbers. It's an argument that's hard to fault, with Neil able to produce wooden pens from native timbers for the equivalent of 8.3 million dollar a tonne.Neil and Coral Druce's 1214 hectare Ardlethan farm is a registered organic enterprise, featuring both cropping and grazing. The Druces maximise wheat returns by milling on-farm and marketing their own flour. "When Neil's father first got into organic farming in the 1960s he copped a lot of stick from people, but after 30 years we've shown that it's very attractive," Coral says.
