Focus on rail upgrade in East Africa

A huge East African infrastructure development programme is under way, which will see the road and rail network being revamped. The programme will serve as the basis for the development of newfound resources in the region, Ugandan Mines Minister Peter Lokeris said at Indaba. "East Africa is very active at the moment. A lot of work is being done to improve the rail network in the region, as is evidenced by the rail project recently launched by [Kenyan President Uhuru] Kenyatta recently," Lokeris added.
