In March, a Yarra Valley winemaker opened up his Twitter account and made an entry. It was not about him and the comings and goings of his winemaking day but rather mentioned a well-known Melbourne wine retailer by the name of Randall Pollard. "Does anyone know anything about Randall selling to Coles?" asked the winemaker, launching his question off into the Twitter universe. And once there, like a Chinese whisper, it morphed with each re-telling slowly reforming into a statement of fact. Then came the fallout as the tweet unravelled. Members of the wine media rang Randall to ask him about the sale. Customers started walking into his stores, asking staff about the sale.
