FORMER federal government minister Chris Schacht has joined the board of Adelaide-based explorer Marathon Resources. A Labor senator for 15 years, Schacht's ministerial career included the science, small business, customs and construction portfolios. Schacht is also president of the Australian Volleyball Federation and holds a place on the Legal Commission of the global volleyball group Federation Internationale de Volleyball. Marathon Resources chairman Peter Williams said Schacht's appointment would deliver broader experience to the company's board. "Chris Schacht is one of Australia's most highly respected political minds with vast international government experience," he said.
