JUST seven months after completing the deal, Austin Engineerings push into North America is bearing fruit. In its biggest acquisition since listing on the Australian Securities Exchange in 2004, Austin Engineering paid almost 22 million dollars for Western Technology Services International (Westech). The 70-year-old Wyoming firm's primary focus is making dump-truck bodies, cable reels and dragline and shovel buckets for the resources sector in the United States, Canada and South America. Westech is best known for its lightweight truck bodies, which enable dump trucks to carry bigger payloads.
