Green tick for mine trial

FROM the air, a mine site might appear like a scar on the earth. That need not be the case thanks to a technology that promotes plant growth on previously barren ground. The University of Queensland (UQ) is conducting a trial with financial support from Xstrata Technology looking at the revegetation of mine sites. The multidisciplinary research program will be tested in greenhouse and field trials this year. UniQuest, UQ's main commercialisation company established start-up venture company, MetalloTek Pty Ltd, to manage further development and commercialisation of the technology in partnership with industry stakeholders.
