TRACTOR manufacturers have notched up two brilliant years across the country, with soaring sales, busy dealerships and several instances of remarkable growth. Nevertheless, the feeling is that the market, generally speaking, has peaked and that 2013 will see a marked slowdown in farmer spending. The 2012 calendar year saw 11,425 tractors sold, up just under 12 per cent on 2011 's total of 10,237.The large broadacre and lifestyle sectors were strong, but not so the mid-size tractor market, where various factors combined to dent farmer confidence.Richard Lewis, executive director of the Tractor and Machinery Association of Australia, said that, overall, it was an excellent result."The market's in good shape and companies are reporting healthy numbers," Richard said."The beauty of last year was that it came on the back of a very strong period the year before. We forecast a bit of a rise, but certainly not to the level we saw.
